I’m a little late to the Outriders party, only having first heard of it recently, but I can say without any doubt that I am excited about it. I think the content announced and planned for the game thus far sounds incredibly appealing and fun.
What is Outriders?
Outriders looks to have a Destiny/Mass Effect/Anthem feel to it. In other words, it’s your typical looter-shooter affair.
You play as a member of a space pioneering program searching out a new planet for humanity to thrive on. In typical fashion, things don’t go as planned, you get put back into cryosleep, and you wake up 30+ years later to a Mad Max-infused post-apocalyptic landscape.
This game clearly is not going to be for everyone, but it looks fun for what it is – not good, not great, but fun.
Considering the current state of Destiny 2 as well, Outriders may be able to fill that need for a shoot and loot game that many people are itching for.
People Can Fly have already claimed that there will be no microtransactions or loot boxes, but do plan to support the game with paid DLC after it launches.
Where can you Download it?
The Outriders demo is live now on Playstation 5, Xbox Series X, Playstation 4, Xbox One, and Steam. While they don’t have the demo, the full game will also release on Stadia and Epic Game Store.
The demo is around 22 gbs to download.
What is There to do?
People Can Fly have done what I love to see in a demo. They have made progress carry over to the full game. I absolutely love when a studio does this and think it is an excellent way to motivate people to try your game.
All 4 classes are in the game as well as many of the abilities you can unlock.
One such feature that People Can Fly have advertised is mining and weapon customization/upgrading. The game will have mining nodes that players can farm for to use when the game fully unlocks.
There is no ability to upgrade or customize weapons in the demo, but you can get a head start on grinding for materials.
The game contains the full prologue, playable either solo or co-op with up to 2 friends.
Outriders drops on April 1st, 2021, so you have plenty of time to try the demo, get some progress, and see if you like it.

Wrapping Up
I have been looking for something new to sink my time into, so I’m super excited for this demo. I think it’s great that your demo progress carries over and overall think that the People Can Fly team have a great game shaping up.
Hopefully, they stick to what they are saying and advertising and carry that into the full release.
