Pokémon Snap was announced a few months ago, but we don’t know too much about it, aside from playing similarly to the original while featuring a new roster of Pokemon.
What is Pokemon Snap?
A few days ago, they dropped an overview trailer giving us some more gameplay and mechanic footage which looks great.
It looks like Professor Mirror will be taking the place of Professor Oak and, much like the original, you will play through different biomes, which will each house unique Pokémon to that area.
You will also gain access to different tools as well to help capture better shots from certain Pokémon. The fluffruit looks to be taking place of the apple from the original, giving Pokémon something to snack on.
There is no pesterball this time around; instead, we get an Illumina orb, which triggers an Illumina phenomenon for certain wildlife and Pokémon. This seems to be tied to the overall story of New Pokémon Snap.
There is also a melody tool that you can use to make Pokémon dance and create scenarios for better pictures.
Overall, the game looks like a blast from the past for older gamers and something new and exciting for younger gamers. I can’t wait to get my hands on it.
Release Date
Nintendo has slated the release date of the new Pokemon Snap for April 30th, 2021.
So, current Nintendo Switch owners can look forward to experiencing this title very soon.

Wrapping Up
Pokémon Snap was one of my go-to games as a kid on my Nintendo 64, so this is very nostalgic for me.
I love how the game looks like it tries to stay true to the original, yet adding new flavors and Pokémon to the mix to keep things fresh. I’m super excited to be picking this up later this month.
For everything else Pokémon Snap, keep it here.
