Make us whole again, Isaac.
EA Officially announces a Dead Space Remake
Dead Space fans have been waiting a long time for news about this tragically abandoned series that was a part of EA’s Unicron phase where they ate up every studio they could and produced nothing of value with the talent.
Soapboxes aside, this looks like a return to form for the survival-horror series.
What we see in the trailer is similar to the original reveal, with the camera panning throughout the USG Ishimura and into an open doorway where we get our first glimpse at the new Necromorph raising over a dead body. Thankfully, from what we can see, the design looks very faithful to the original concepts.

Beyond that, we also get a tease at Isaac’s look in this, which, again, looks incredibly faithful to the source material. Given us a bit of a treat, the camera also pans past Isaac and over to the infamous “CUT OFF THEIR LIMBS” written in blood on the wall, much in the same vein as the original.
You can check out IGN’s upload of the trailer for yourself below.
No release date has been set for this title yet, but we’ll keep you posted as we get the information ourselves.
Wrapping Up
Survival-horror is one of my all-time favorite genres, and Dead Space is one of my favorite gaming franchises of all time, so this has me excited and apprehensive.
On one hand, I’ve been missing Dead Space for a while now, even though all three titles have aged incredibly well. It could be great to see EA take a new route with the Remake here. It definitely seems like they’re taking a page out of Capcom’s book and going for a full-on remake of a beloved horror classic.
On the other hand, this is EA we’re dealing with, which equates to a large margin for simple things to go horribly wrong. We could see an always-online aspect, a predatory cash shop; let’s not forget how monetized the entire Dead Space franchise has been from day one. First, there were the Xbox LIVE armor packs, and then in Dead Space 2 and 3, EA doubled down with their monetization, DLCs, online passes, etc. There’s a lot of history there.
Regardless, I’ll always be interested in more Dead Space, and it remains to be seen what we can look forward to with this title.

Well this is a surprise! Hopefully it’s gets a Steam release.
Hi, Jkund. We’re shocked and excited about this announcement, too. Both Justin and I are huge Dead Space fans. Good point about hoping it comes to Steam in a time when every publisher seems to be fighting for their own client. We’ll keep you and all our other readers posted as we find out more, though. Thank you kindly for taking the time to read our content and leave a comment; we greatly appreciate it!
