Resident Evil Village has been out for a bit now, and the mod community has been exploding; as they did with RE7, they did it again here – Resident Evil Village now has a working third-person mod.

Third Person Mod in Resident Evil Village

Before jumping into things, all credit for this mod goes to FluffyQuack, and you can check out their Patreon, which is also how you gain access to this sweet mod, right here (don’t worry, it’s free, but the option to throw some money toward FluffyQuack’s hard work is there, too).

Resident Evil Village released earlier this year to some mixed reviews but overall was a fun experience. Check out our thoughts on the title here.

The Third person mod finally makes its debut in Resident Evil Village with some gameplay to showcase how it currently works.

For a video rundown on that, check out IGN’s video below.

At the moment, the mod looks a little stiff when watching Ethan’s character model navigate the environment. But, with that said, it’s actually fascinating how he maintains the exact animations from first-person to third-person when firing weapons, aiming, and navigating the environment.

If anything, that shows how much time and effort Capcom put into the title, or, perhaps, how much time and effort went into this specific mod. Regardless, it is impressive. Honestly, I think it would have been neat for the game to ship with the option to toggle between the two viewpoints, as I always prefer third-person when available. But, I do understand that Capcom is currently trying to offer up the Resident Evil franchise in two different flavors to grab the maximum amount of audience attention.

Where to Download the Third Person Mod

As stated above, you can grab this mod for yourself directly from the author, FluffyQuack’s Patreon. The link to that, once again, is right here, or you can grab it straight from this page by clicking to download link here.

As with most mods, I’m sure we can expect to see some updates to this or a more polished and refined version to release some time down the road. So, if the mod, in its current state, isn’t something for you, keep your eyes posted, and another version may be about in the future.

Wrapping Up

So, what do you think of this mod? Is it something you’re interested in?

Personally, I’m a huge stickler for animations, so I’m looking for a bit more polish before I jump on this, but that’s not to say that FluffyQuack didn’t put a tremendous amount of time and effort into this, and it certainly did pay off.
