Valheim_Finding_World_Save_3

You may have recently got back into Valheim and are looking to start a server with friends but already have progress on a world that you don’t feel like starting over on. Fortunately, getting that Valheim world save and uploading it to whatever server console you have to host Valheim is super easy.

Finding Your Valheim World Save

The first thing you will need to do is press the Windows key + “r” simultaneously. Doing this will bring up the Run dialog on windows. Alternatively, you can right-click the Windows icon on the lower left of your screen and select the run option.

Once the Run Command pops up, type in “%appdata%” and hit “OK.” For those fellow old-school Minecraft modders, you may be familiar with this already.

Valheim World Save

Once you hit “OK,” it will bring you to the “%appdata% / Roaming” folder. Next, go back one folder back to “%appdata%” folder. From there, you will need to select the “LocalLow” folder, then the “Irongate” folder, then the “Valheim” folder, and finally, your prize awaits you in the “worlds” folder.

Valheim World Save

It’s important to note that Valheim world saves will be composed of 4 different files. Therefore, it is important to copy all of the files over to their new location when copying these to another PC or server.

Another important thing to note that some new players may not know is that your characters are saved separately from a world. So when copying a Valheim world save, all items and equipment a character has will be kept with that character.

Wrapping Up

Once you know what you’re doing, it’s super simple to copy and paste world saves to different PCs and servers. Hopefully, this helps jump-start your server that will be sure to provide countless hours of fun among friends.

For all things Valheim, keep it here.
