Minecraft_Caves_And_Cliffs_1

After months and months of snapshots, delays, and changes, the first part of the Caves and Cliffs Update is finally live!

As of right now, Minecraft 1.17 is live and playable. You can download new server jars if you want to update your servers and update your game’s client.

Your Minecraft client should auto update as soon as you press the play button with 1.17 selected.

There is a lot of new content in this update, but we’ll mention some of the larger ones below and what’s to come when the second part of the update drops as well.

Major New Content

  • Dripstone blocks spawning in caves
  • New Amethyst blocks
  • New Copper ores and blocks
  • Candles
  • New Deepslate blocks
  • Spyglass
  • New Goat mob
  • New Axolotl mob
  • Powder Snow
  • Lush Caves Blocks

Among these new major features, the two newest mobs are certainly a big change to the game. New mobs add more depth to the world and will surely make for some fun new farms.

The new copper and deepslate blocks will also change up how people build across any server.

Things to Come in Caves and Cliffs Part 2

  • Bundles
  • Sculk Sensors

While these are nothing but speculation, I would love to see unique tools and armor come into fruition utilizing the new copper and deepslate blocks.

Check out wattles’ coverage of the new content below.

Wrapping Up

We hope you are enjoying all of the new content in this patch so far! It’s great to see something that was talked about so frequently finally come to fruition, and while it did take a while to arrive, this update is packed with some great content that I cannot wait to dig into and create tons of new worlds with.
